Using the Māori experience in New Zealand as a focal point and drawing comparisons with global Indigenous movements, this article illuminates the inherent tensions arising from power and wealth dynamics in societal interactions. This theoretical approach enables a nuanced understanding of ongoing struggles over rights and resources that transcends reductive narratives of oppression and resistance.
